  1. The Editorial Board determines whether the paper is appropriate for the journal (sufficiently original and in line with the journal’s scope) and checks the paper’s format against the journal’s Author Guidelines to make sure it follows the stylesheet.
  2. For the purposes of the double-blind peer review the authors must submit two versions of the manuscript – non anonymized and anonymized. The non anonymized version should not include the following information: name and surname of the author, affiliation, e-mail address, acknowledgments, indication of funding sources, and any other data allowing to identify the author.
  3. The editor responsible for publications within a specific language section chooses two external reviewers (who are not affiliated with the author’s institution nor members of the Editorial Board). The external reviewers assess the submission independently and anonymously within the period of two months. In the case of submissions in languages other than Polish, one of the reviewers must be affiliated with an institution abroad.
  4. The reviewers evaluate whether the submission qualifies for publication, taking into account the criteria outlined in the Review Form.
  5. Each review is submitted in writing and needs to decisively state whether or not the article is fit for publication.
  6. The Editor responsible for publications within a specific language section considers the reviews with the Editor-in-Chief before making the final decision. If the reviews differ significantly and/or are conflicting, the Editorial Board consults the Editorial Advisory Board and, if necessary, invites a third reviewer in order to obtain an additional opinion before making the decision.
  7. Based on the reviews, the Chief Editor makes the final decision whether to accept or reject the article.
  8. Neither the reviewers nor the authors know the others’ identity (double-blind review process).
  9. Once a year, we publish a list of reviewers collaborating with the journal.
  10. Acta Philologicais a journal committed to meeting and upholding the standards of ethical behavior at all stages of the publication process. The following rules are based on the COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
  11. All the submitted manuscripts for publication are checked for plagiarism after submission and before starting review.
